Dr. C. I. Scofield

Dr. C. I. ScofieldDr. C. I. Scofield
(1843-1921) was a Bible student and author. He was born in Lenawee County, Missouri and raised in Wilson County, Tennessee. Scofield fought in the Civil War and was awarded the Confederate Cross of Honor in 1864. After the war he became an attorney and served as a Kansas legislator. At 36 years old he was converted to Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior. In 1882 he was ordained as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ and served as Pastor at First Church in Dallas TX 1882-1895, and again at the Moody Church in Northfield Mass from 1902-1907. In his later years, he lectured in Bible institutes and colleges on both sides of the Atlantic. He is especially known for his extensive work in pre-millennial dispensational theology as seen in his stalwart work of his notes in the Scofield Reference Bible (Today the Scofield Study Bible).

What It Is

You don't have to fit your schedule around your education with Scofield Bible Institute's Distance Learning, you can fit your education around your schedule.

This means you get your Christian vocational/non vocational education without having to be concerned about a sitter or commutes in a rush to get to a campus class on time after a long day at work in rush hour traffic.

With Distance Learning you are going to class without interrupting your life, because now you have the flexibility to go to class at home when your schedule allows.

Scofield Bible Institute and Seminary is:

Ethical - Scofield Bible Institute is an independent ministry of Grace Life Baptist Church under the oversight of the church and its appointed directors.

Flexible - You sign up and register for courses on your time. (You complete a program on your timing within the time frame for completion of the course)

Theologically Sound - Courses built on Christ-centered, theologically sound curriculum.

Reformed in Soteriology - Dispensational in Eschatology

Affordable - Courses are made available for those that cannot afford the tuition of traditional Bible institutes or colleges where course fees are based on credit hours. Our fees are charged by course.

How it Works

Before Class Begins

A. Prospective student makes application for admission and forwards the application with the $50.00 application fee to the registrar.

The application can be downloaded from here:   Application for Distance Learning

B. Upon approval of application, the student will receive an approval letter and a catalog. Within the catalog, there will be a registration form where the student picks his/her respective course or courses

C. Once the student picks the course/courses, he/she mails the registration along with the tuition. The course material will be mailed to the student which includes the course syllabus and the course lecture (CD/s) for the course. (Required text books are to be purchased separately by the student.) The required text book will be named in the syllabus including ISBN and product number for order from Christianbook.com.

Taking The Class

Once the student receives the course syllabus, required text book, and lecture CD/s, the student, at his/her own pace will listen to the professor's course lecture on CD just as he/she were sitting in class live. It is of critical importance that the student maintains a note book to take notes during the course as well as have these as permanent notes for the subject and course at hand. The Syllabus will spell out all the requirements to study and complete the course. The syllabus will give direction to the student on completing a paper for each course studied.

The paper will be turned in within the required time period allowed for the course. (Varies on course) This paper/s must be mailed directly to the Scofield Institute for grading.

Some of the courses require that a student complete a thesis and or a short exam.

This course can be taken with an approved distance learning proctor that will administer the quiz. The paper, quiz and exam, if applicable, will constitute the final grade for the course. Once all course requirements and assignments are completed with a passing grade and all tuition is paid, a certificate of completion will be awarded to the student.

Once all courses are complete for a program and all tuition is paid the diploma and or degree will be sent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I ask questions of the teacher?

During the course, the student can ask questions as they would by sitting in a live class by emailing the professor or instructor. The instructor will respond via the same. These questions, however, must pertain ONLY to the course that the student is currently taking.
